Who It Is For
Who we built it for.
The Pattern-Seeker
If you've quit MyFitnessPal three times.
Calorie counting stopped making sense. You suspect food affects how you feel but can't pinpoint the pattern. Body Compass picks up there.
The Post-Biohacker
If you've worn a CGM and need something broader.
Levels or Nutrisense gave initial insight. The ongoing sensor bill wasn't sustainable. You want a broader signal tracker without the hardware lock-in or the scoring.
The Yuka Graduate
If you've cleaned up your food and still feel bad.
Yuka or similar got you to "what's in the food." The next question is "what does this food do to me." Body Compass is the tool for moving from ingredient quality to personal response.
Who it is not for.
Naming this keeps the tool sharp. If any of these describe you, Body Compass is probably not what you're looking for.
- Optimizing for weight loss as the primary goal
- Looking for a coach to tell you what to eat
- Wanting a structured protocol to follow (Whole30, FODMAP, keto)
- Scoring food morally (good, clean, dirty)
- In active eating-disorder recovery where any food tracking is contraindicated
Priors, not verdicts
How we initially classify ingredients.
An ingredient's zone is a starting point — broad evidence about how it commonly behaves. For green and yellow zones, your own data — logged over time — is what refines the picture for you.
Generally well-tolerated
Foods that most people in elimination-style work tolerate well. The default starting point — modify the picture from your own logging.
Person-dependent
Reactions vary widely. What sits poorly with one person may sit fine with you. The zone for "track and find out."
Often reactive
Foods commonly correlated with reactions across populations — or flagged for what's in them. Most red flags stand on the evidence itself; a narrow set can earn a personal reversal from strong data of your own.
Sample values shown — in the app, your zone split shifts as you log meals.
Sample meal · Salmon & greens bowl
Green = generally well-tolerated · Yellow = person-dependent · Red = often reactive
n=1, not universal
What we built it on.
Body Compass is built first-person. We started with a 30-day elimination reset of our own — the same method clinicians use for finding food reactions — and offer the tool to others doing the same. We explain our reasoning. We don't close the loop for you.
- Modifier-aware ingredient logging — preparation can change the classification
- Multi-axis signal tracking — mood, energy, clarity, recovery, plus symptom signals
- Reintro decision cards — surfaced automatically from your logged test days
- No prescriptions — the app observes and reports; it never says "you should"

Before you ask
- Is this medical advice?
- No. Body Compass is a self-tracking tool, not a diagnosis or treatment — it documents your own elimination-and-reintroduction work, it doesn't replace a clinician. Check with a professional before changing your diet or care.
- Can I trust the food analysis?
- Treat it as a starting point, not a verdict. The analysis estimates ingredients and zones from what you log, and it can be wrong — you confirm every entry, and the insights are built on your own logged patterns, not the model.
- Does it connect to my Oura, Whoop or Apple Health?
- Not yet. WHOOP sync is scaffolded but not live, and no other wearable connects today — what you log by hand is the signal Body Compass runs on for now.
